# Preview flow on different channels

## Preview a flow

1. Click the *Preview* button (top left of canvas). 
2. Select the channel you want to preview the flow on.
   * **Note:** You can only select from those channels that have been set up in your account*.*
3. Add the test details for the selected channel.
   * **Note:** For testing purposes, this can be anything and does not have to be a real phone number.
4. Select the flow you want to preview using the *Select Route* drop-down (defaults to the flow currently in context).

5. To exit, click the *Stop preview* button (top left of canvas).

## **Preview on WhatsApp**&#x20;

Previewing the WhatsApp channel offers a rich experience, including media, location sharing, etc.

1. Click *Start*.&#x20;
2. Type something in the text box and press *Enter* to trigger your flow.
3. There is an option to test your flow simulating [BSUID](https://help.clickatell.com/whatsapp/getting-started/initiate-whatsapp-conversations#usernames-and-business-scoped-user-ids). If you select this option, the "Mobile Number" field relabels to BSUID with placeholder "Enter a BSUID". Type a fake BSUID value (e.g. ZA 1234567890) into the field.
   * The emulator treats this as a BSUID-only message (no phone number in the webhook).
   * The Trigger Contact Book Flow check box will only be visible to users who have the [Contact Book](/flow/action-nodes/contact-book.md) feature enabled.

The SMS channel preview provides a simpler, text-only experience including a character count so flow-builders can correctly structure their messages.
